In the late 1990’s early 2000s, I worked with children with ASD in BHRS (the precursor to IBHS). The system was not made for children with ASD, but for delinquent and adjucated youth. Giving these children the therapy they needed and deserved was an uphill battle. I talked to friends at that time about opening my own center for these children, to provide them the quality intensive therapy they so needed. A few years later, while getting training at the Carbone Clinic, I said the same thing…we need this in PA, in Lycoming County. years passed. I worked; I continued my education, my training, and expanded my experience.
Finally, the time came. 8 yrs of working 50-70 hrs per week, taking no salary or pay for the beginning years from the centers, and pouring everything I had into it. GBS has become a reality and has survived and thrived for 8 years, even through covid.
I love going to our file room and seeing the files of the children we have served over the years… over 100-200 easily. I love hearing from parents about how their child is thriving and continues to make progress due to the foundation we have laid.
Again, as this busy day comes to a close (not really.. have online meetings yet tonight!) I just want to say thanks to everyone. You all have played an important part in our growth and success, and in the growth and success of our clients.
